Warning on Neuropsychiatric Effects from Smoking Cessation Drugs (Sept. 2009)

FDA is requiring that two drugs used to help people stop smoking carry new warnings about the risk of serious neuropsychiatric effects. The drugs are Chantix (varenicline) and Zyban (bupropion). The same warnings will be required for other bupropion products such as Wellbutrin, which are used to treat depression and seasonal affective disorder.     Really worrying news!!, its not nice that someone using a certain drug to stop smoking suddenly start having this adverse effects. Hope that more research is done, as mentioned in the video the advantages of smoking are bigger than the risk of developing this disorders, but in any case be aware.
